Rather than just focusing on eliminating difficult feelings, I will aim to work collaboratively with you to explore, identify and unburden the core issues that lie beneath them. This process involves gaining awareness on the patterns of thinking, acting and feeling that might be keeping you grounded, and developing new perspectives for relating to yourself and the world around you.
From media, peer pressure to parental and societal expectations, kids today experience challenges and stressors that previous generations have never had to deal with. Through therapy, kids can learn to express their feelings in a more healthy and constructive way. Through this process kids will learn to regulate their unproductive, or even self-destructive thoughts patterns.
I work with your relationship focusing on understanding the negative cycle of your communications with your partner, deescalating the conflicts, exploring the insecurities and creating more secure bonding. This process allows couples to feel more in tune in their attachment with one another and will improve their capacity to communicate and problem solve together.
When working with children and teens, support from parents and family is a huge step in furthering the progress of their growth. I support the parents as they identify, address, reflect their past or present experiences that may be affecting the way they relate/ parent their child. In some cases, I also help parents with their communication skills between each other to maintain a consistent and structured parenting approach.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a psychotherapy privilege in New York State offering clinical supervision to LMSWs looking to earn their clinical hours. I received my SiFi Certificate from Columbia University and was the clinical director and supervisor for mental health and substance outpatient programs. As a clinical supervisor, my belief is that in order to hold space for clients, it is essential to create a space for ourselves. In this space, we together uncover who you are meant to be as a therapist, what you bring to this work, how it impacts on your empathy/compassion, and help you navigate this complex process.
A mental health assessment is a procedure in which identifies and evaluates an individual's symptoms to determine whether they have a working diagnosis or risk factors and establishes areas of potentially worthwhile treatment. In the process of the assessment, I find clues that piece together an explanation of the symptoms you are going through. I will develop an individualized treatment option for you so that you can begin recovery. Below are some of the examples of commonly used behavioral health questionnaires: Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9): used to screen symptoms of clinical depression. General Anxiety Disorder 7 (GAD 7): used to screen symptoms of Anxiety PCL-C: used to screen PTSD symptoms
We are hardwired to connect. I understand the importance of relationship to all humans. We are hardwired to connect through a relationship where you can experience acceptance, safety, and fulfillment. I also see that your unresolved wounds have occurred in relationships. The therapeutic alliance provides the opportunity to create a new chance where you can get in tune with what has been blocking you and relax into who you are meant to be.
I see you. I see your struggles in the context of surviving difficult circumstances, managing challenging life events, and battling the traumas you have encountered. Rather than using a psychiatric diagnosis to define you, I acknowledge the disturbance and chaos that have surrounded you. I empathize on your strengths, inner resources, and the possibilities to transform.
Real changes occur through an awareness of experience that only comes alive in the present moment. I often use expressive tools and activities- such as reenactment in couple therapies, memory processing in individual sessions, or guided imagery to re-experience emotions, body movement and sensations from the past. Part of this embodied experience is helping you to be centered and grounded so that you can integrate your experiences that may have been ignored previously.
